The Cocoon Tower is one of Tokyo's most distinctive skyscrapers, its oval, lattice-wrapped form rising 204 meters above the west exit of Shinjuku Station. The interlocking white diagonal grid stretches across the entire facade, creating strong geometric patterns that reward close inspection as much as wide establishing shots. Shoot from street level looking straight up to emphasize the curvature and compression of the lattice, or step back toward the plaza to the west to capture the full silhouette against the sky. A wide-angle lens works well for the full structure, while a longer focal length isolates the repeating grid details. Overcast skies prevent harsh shadows and bring out the clean white geometry, though blue-sky days give you strong contrast. After dark, the tower is illuminated and reflects light well against the surrounding city glow. The area around Shinjuku Station's west exit puts you within a short walk of multiple shooting angles.
