Moinhos da Apúlia is a series of traditional windmills set along the coastline in Apúlia. The windmills were originally used to grind grain using wind power. The small white mills sit on sandy dunes right by the Atlantic, surrounded by grasses and wooden fencing that add texture to the scene. Their simple shapes and spacing make them easy to work into clean compositions, whether you isolate a single mill or include several with the ocean behind. It is a great spot for combining coastal and historic elements into one frame. Sunset works especially well here, with warm light hitting the windmills and the sky adding colour over the water. It is an easy place to walk around and try different angles along the shoreline. (Apúlia, Portugal)
