About Monte Quarin
Monte Quarin is a photogenic wooded hill rising straight up behind the rooftops of Cormons, with vineyards and terraced olive groves flowing down it's slopes. The Chiesa della Beata Vergine del Soccorso sits looking over the valley. This small 17th century church stands out against the rich greens with its crisp white stone blocks. The church's terrace looks straight down over Cormons. You can take your time and use a longer lens to pull the Duomo di Sant'Adalberto and the packed roofs around it into a tight frame. Make sure to climb all the way to the summit. The Rocca di Cormons is a restored tower and is all that is left from the old hilltop castle. It stands in a small park with benches and an open view all the way around. Making it the perfect spot to experiment with various compositions looking out over the surrounding valley. Late afternoon brings low light across the plains from the west giving your shooting a peaceful feel. You can drive up using Strada della Montona as it climbs the ridge to a car park partway up that puts you at the foot of a wide stone staircase. You can also walk to the hilltop along well marked trails from the town centre through oak and chestnut woods. (Cormons, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy)
