Plaža Kanal is a rocky river beach on the Soča River that gives you a perfect water level viewpoint of this photogenic small town. From here you look straight up at the stone arch bridge with the medieval buildings of Kanal ob Soči stacked on limestone rocks beside it. The church bell tower rises above the roof line adding to the quaint feel. The Soča River usually has a rich emerald colour, and at this spot the river pools and slows enough to create clean reflections of the bridge, the buildings, and the surrounding rock faces. The best conditions for reflections are early morning before any wind picks up. Overcast light works well here, since it evens out the contrast between the pale stone buildings and the darker rock faces. The beach is easily accessible from the riverbank, and you can move along the rocks to adjust your angle and distance. (Kanal ob Soči, Goriška, Slovenia)
