Motif #1
Motif #1 is an eye catching red fishing shack sitting on the end of Bradley Wharf. Built in the 19th century, it became a favorite subject of artists drawn to its simple form, weathered wood, and classic New England harbor setting. The building sits at the edge of the water, surrounded by fishing boats, lobster traps, granite blocks, and calm harbor reflections, creating clean maritime compositions throughout the year. Early morning light and blue hour are especially rewarding for photography, when the harbor is quiet and the sky reflects softly across the water. Easily reached on foot from downtown Rockport, Motif #1 remains a defining landmark of the town’s artistic heritage. (Rockport, Massachusetts, United States)
