National Capitol Columns
The National Capitol Columns, located in the United States National Arboretum in Washington, D.C., are a striking collection of 22 Corinthian columns originally intended for the U.S. Capitol’s east portico. Set atop a gentle hill in a wide, open meadow, the columns create a dramatic focal point with its reflecting pool and surrounding natural landscapes. Their grand scale and classical detail offer endless opportunities for architectural, landscape, and abstract photography. The setting is especially photogenic at sunrise and sunset, when soft light casts long shadows across the field. Easily accessible by car with parking available nearby, the site is a standout photo location within the arboretum’s expansive grounds. (Washington, D.C., United States)
