North Lees Hall is a secluded tower house dating from 1594 and probably replacing an earlier Elizabethan timber-framed hall house. It was visited by Charlotte Bronte in 1845 and used as the setting for Thornfield Hall, home of Mr Rochester, in her novel Jane Eyre. (Hope Valley, England)
