About Old Bridge Mostar
Mostar Bridge is a 16th-century Ottoman stone arch bridge soaring over the Neretva River. It was carefully rebuilt after its destruction in 1993 and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This eye catching bridge features a single arch of pale cream limestone that stretches out from cliff to cliff. Below it the river is a hard, cold green that holds its colour year round. The deep green water contrasts perfectly with the warm tones of the stonework. You can easily get down to the shoreline on the western river bank. This will let you set up low and close to highlight the full curve of the arch sitting against the sky with the Halebija and Tara towers at either end. If a side profile with the mountains stacked up behind is more your shooting style the Lučki Most has the perfect view looking along the river towards the old bridge. Try to plan on being here either early or late in the day, when low sun crosses the arch face. In summer the local divers jump from the peak of the arch so if you are lucky you may be able to feature them in your compositions. If you want more unique view of the bridge, the minaret at the Koski Mehmed Pasha Mosque lets you shoot down onto the arch with the tiled roofs of the old town as a backdrop.
