This quiet, moss-covered stone arch bridge carries an old railroad grade over Kinsman Hill Road Extension, and its weathered granite blocks and graceful curve make it a rewarding find for architectural and nature photographers alike. You can shoot from the road below looking up through the arch, which frames the sky and surrounding tree canopy beautifully, or step back to capture the full profile of the bridge from a low angle. The arch itself works well as a natural frame for portraits or environmental shots. Overcast days are ideal here, as soft diffused light brings out the texture of the stone without harsh shadows inside the arch. A wide angle lens helps you capture the full structure in the tight space below, though a standard prime works well for detail shots of the stonework. The surrounding woodland adds color in autumn.
