Ottawa Skyline
Perched on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River, this viewpoint behind the Canadian Museum of History gives you one of the finest urban compositions in Canada, with Parliament Hill's Gothic Revival towers, the Peace Tower, and the city's skyline reflected across the water. Position yourself along the riverbank to use the Ottawa River as a natural foreground element, and experiment with slightly elevated angles within the park to clear any vegetation. A mid-range zoom in the 24-70mm range works well for capturing the full skyline, while a longer lens lets you compress the Peace Tower against the surrounding buildings. Sunrise and golden hour deliver warm light directly onto the Parliament buildings from the east, making early morning the prime window for clean, glowing facades. The park is easy to walk through and free to access year-round, with winter adding dramatic ice textures to the river foreground. (Gatineau, Quebec, Canada)
