Alexandra Bridge
Alexandra Bridge is a century-old steel truss bridge connecting Ottawa to Gatineau across the Ottawa River, offering some of the best elevated views of Parliament Hill and the Château Laurier you can find in the city. Walking across the bridge puts you at mid-river, where you can frame the dramatic Gothic silhouette of Parliament against the sky without any foreground clutter. The pedestrian walkway lets you move along the span and experiment with different focal lengths; a 24-70mm covers most compositions well, but a longer lens helps compress the Parliament Buildings against the skyline. Sunset is the standout time to shoot, with warm light hitting the copper rooftops and the Peace Tower catching the last rays of the day. The bridge is easily accessible on foot from both the Ottawa and Gatineau sides, and the open railing gives you clean, unobstructed shots over the water. (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
