The Petersen Automotive Museum is a striking architectural landmark on Wilshire Boulevard, wrapped in sweeping ribbons of stainless steel that curve around a vivid red base, making the exterior as photogenic as anything inside. For the best shots, position yourself across the street on the south side of Wilshire to capture the full facade, or move to the corners of the building where the layered steel curves create strong depth and dimension. A wide-angle lens works well for the full structure, while a longer focal length lets you isolate the abstract detail of the metalwork. Evening is the prime time to shoot, when the red exterior glows under artificial lighting and the steel ribbons catch warm reflections from the surrounding streetlights. Weekday evenings tend to have less foot traffic and fewer cars blocking your foreground. Street parking is available nearby, and the sidewalk gives you plenty of room to work multiple angles.
