Located on the western tip of Île de Ré, the Phare des Baleines is a historic lighthouse that stands as a beacon over the Atlantic Ocean. Towering at 57 meters, this elegant stone structure provides sweeping coastal views from its upper platform, accessible via a spiral staircase of over 250 steps. Photographers are drawn to its classic maritime architecture, the rugged shoreline, and the interplay of light and sea—especially at sunrise and sunset when golden hues transform the scene. The surrounding area features tidal flats, rocky beaches, and a smaller 17th-century tower nearby, offering a range of compositions from wide landscapes to detailed architectural shots. Easily accessible by bike or car, the site includes amenities and a small museum, making it both a scenic and convenient photo destination. (Saint-Clément-des-Baleines, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France)
