Plage Centrale is Hossegor's main beach, a wide stretch of Atlantic-facing sand backed by dunes and pines, known for powerful beach break waves that draw professional surfers and offer compelling action photography opportunities. For surf shots, position yourself low on the sand at the waterline with a telephoto lens (200-400mm) to compress the waves and isolate riders against the lip; at low tide the exposed sand flats create strong foreground texture for wider compositions. Golden hour is where this beach shines, especially at sunset when the light hits the water directly and the waves glow amber; arrive 30 minutes before sunset to find your position. Early morning gives you glassy conditions, softer light, and almost no crowds. Access is straightforward with parking behind the dunes, and you can walk the shoreline in both directions to vary your framing against the unbroken horizon. (Hossegor, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France)
