Prefetrura di Perugia
The Prefettura di Perugia is a grand civic building fronting one of the city's main squares, its facade defined by a series of stately arches that create strong rhythm and depth. The covered portico is one of the best compositional opportunities here; position yourself inside and shoot along the row of arches to use them as repeating frames or a leading line drawing the eye toward the square beyond. A wide-angle lens works well for emphasizing the scale and geometry, while a longer focal length lets you isolate individual arch details against the stone. Light inside the portico is typically soft and even, but the most dramatic conditions come after a mid-afternoon thunderstorm, when the cleared air sharpens contrast and wet pavement adds reflections. The building is centrally located and easy to reach on foot, with plenty of space in the piazza to step back and capture the full facade. (Perugia, Umbria, Italy)
