Prospect Park Boathouse
The Prospect Park Boathouse is a landmarked Venetian Renaissance Revival building dating to 1905, sitting directly on the edge of Lullwater, a narrow, tree-lined stretch of calm water that reflects both the ornate facade and the surrounding foliage. The building's arched loggia, terracotta detailing, and symmetrical front elevation give you a strong architectural subject, while the water in front opens up reflection shots that double the composition. Position yourself along the water's edge to the south or use the footbridge nearby as a foreground element. A 24-70mm lens handles most situations well here. Early morning in autumn is the standout time to visit, when the surrounding maples turn orange and gold, mist sometimes sits over the water, and you have the place largely to yourself before crowds arrive. Overcast days keep reflections clean and reduce harsh contrast on the white facade. The boathouse is accessible via the East Drive path from the Lincoln Road or Parkside Avenue entrances.
