About Roberts Lake Recreation Site
Roberts Lake Recreation Site is a peaceful day use beach at the south end of Roberts Lake. A short trail through the forest opens onto light sand and a fishing dock that looks out over dark, deep water. From the shore, the lake stretches north between forested hills of dark green pine trees. Mornings are the perfect time to be here. The water tends to sit flat and glassy early in the day, and the hills will mirror perfectly in the surface before the afternoon wind kicks in. The site is often quite quiet so you will be able to experiment with lots of angles and compositions to find just the right views to match your shooting style. You can walk to the end of the dock and shoot back along the boards for an amazing leading line, or drop low on the sand and use the dock to lead out towards the far shore. Overcast days work well here too. Soft, even light keeps the deep greens rich and stops the pale sand from glaring. To get there, head north from Campbell River on Highway 19 and turn right onto the gravel road just before the lake (make sure to keep left at the gravel pit). There is a good sized parking area and easy to follow trail that takes you right to the shoreline. (Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada)
