Sand Point Lighthouse

Sand Point Lighthouse - Photo by Shawn M. Kent1 / 1

Sand Point Lighthouse is a small little red and white lighthouse along the Ottawa River that makes a nice photography subject as you pass through the region. The wharf on which Sand Point Lighthouse stands once served as a terminal for a ferry that shuttled people across the river to Norway Bay. The ferry remained active from 1909 until 1962 when the Chenaux Hydro Dam was constructed. Built in 1907, the lighthouse is easy to access and still active. It also makes a great subject along the Ottawa River for sunrise photography. (Sand Point, Ontario, Canada)
