Si-o-se-pol, whose name means "Bridge of 33 Arches," is one of the great architectural achievements of Safavid-era Iran, stretching nearly 300 meters across the Zayandeh River in Isfahan. The repeating arches create a rhythm of light and shadow that rewards patient composition; shooting from river level gives you a low perspective where the arches frame the water and reflect beautifully when the river is flowing. The upper deck walkway lets you photograph the symmetrical arcade disappearing into the distance, which works well with a longer focal length to compress the arches together. Golden hour and blue hour are both excellent here, as the warm stone glows at sunset and the bridge lights up softly after dark. You can walk down to the riverbank on either side to get unobstructed reflection shots. The bridge is open to pedestrians and easily accessible from central Isfahan.
