Silver Bridge
Built in 1930 by Reid-Russell Engineering, this steel pony truss bridge spans a quiet rural creek along Blenheim Road, offering a compact but striking subject with its warm weathered metal and classic early-twentieth-century engineering lines. The bridge is small enough to capture in full from either bank, and shooting low from the road or the creek edge gives you a strong sense of its structure against open farmland skies. The repeating diagonal truss members create natural leading lines, and a wide to standard focal length works well for environmental shots that include the surrounding countryside. Overcast days soften shadows and bring out the texture of the aged steel, while golden hour light adds warmth to the metal and reflects nicely off the water below. Access is straightforward along a rural paved road with room to pull off safely; the surrounding flat farmland keeps the horizon open and uncluttered. (Blandford-Blenheim, Ontario, Canada)
