About Skybridge
The Davenport Skybridge is a glass walkway over East River Drive and the rail tracks in downtown Davenport, taking people to the Mississippi riverfront. It's cable-stayed, with two tall masts angling up off the deck. After dark the whole corridor fills with colour, thousands of LEDs running waves along the glass. This creates a unique shooting environment inside the pathway and letting you use the colours as leading lines. The lighting changes with the seasons and special events, so you won't get the same palette twice. The observation deck at the south end looks out over the water and from up there you can see the Centennial Bridge, the bandshell down in LeClaire Park and barges flowing along the river. Blue hour is the perfect time to shoot from the observation deck, the city lights are slowly coming and the sky still has hints of its sunset colours. The bridge does close in the evening. Although in December it's properly dark long before closing, summer is trickier since the sun barely goes down before the bridge closes. (Davenport, Iowa, USA)
