Solspeilet, or the Sun Mirror, is a striking outdoor sculpture on the waterfront at Klungholmen, combining a pyramid-like stone structure with 12 surrounding monoliths to create a scene that feels part Viking Age, part ancient monument. The runes, Oseberg ship carvings, and weathered stonework reward close-up detail shots as much as wide compositions, so bring both a wide-angle and a short telephoto. At low tide you can get right to the water's edge and use reflections in the still fjord to double the structure in your frame. Golden hour light, especially in the evening, rakes across the carved surfaces and brings out the texture in the stone. The surrounding monoliths work well as natural frames or foreground elements when shooting toward the central pyramid. The site is open and accessible on foot, with flat ground around the sculpture giving you freedom to circle the structure and find your angle. (Jørpeland, Rogaland, Norway)
