Stavanger Cathedral is Norway's oldest cathedral, dating to the early 1100s, and its mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture gives you a lot to work with both inside and out. Outside, position yourself across the square to capture the full facade with the stone towers rising against the sky; a wide angle lens works well here, especially if you include some of the surrounding old town buildings for context. Inside, the ornate Baroque pulpit, carved wooden details, and vivid stained glass windows reward a longer focal length for isolating details. Interior shooting benefits from the soft, colorful light that filters through the windows on sunny mornings, so aim for a weekday visit when the cathedral is less crowded and tripods are easier to manage. Check opening hours before visiting, as the cathedral has limited public access outside of services. (Stavanger, Rogaland, Norway)
