South Bank Parklands runs along the western bank of the Brisbane River, offering a layered mix of urban greenery, the iconic Arbour walkway, and unobstructed views across the water to the city skyline. The Arbour itself is a standout subject, with its repeating steel arches draped in magenta bougainvillea creating a natural tunnel that rewards wide-angle shots looking straight down the path for a strong sense of depth and symmetry. Early morning gives you soft, even light without harsh shadows cutting through the arches, and you will have the walkway largely to yourself. The riverfront promenade is worth exploring too, where you can frame the CBD skyline and Story Bridge reflections on the water at blue hour. A 24-35mm lens handles the Arbour well, while a longer focal length compresses the city views nicely from the riverbank. Street parking is available nearby, and the entire parklands are flat and easy to navigate on foot. (Brisbane, Queensland, Australia)
