Spåkenes Shoreline

Spåkenes Shoreline sits on a rocky peninsula in northern Norway, where a dramatic sweep of Arctic coastline faces the Lyngen Alps directly across the fjord. The jagged, glacier-polished rocks along the water's edge give you strong foreground texture to anchor wide compositions, while the snow-capped peaks rising sharply behind the bay create natural depth. Position yourself low on the shoreline to place interesting rock formations in the foreground with the mountains filling the background, or step back to take in the full panorama. Blue hour and evening light are exceptional here, with the alpenglow catching the peaks and reflecting across calm water. In winter, this is also a reliable Northern Lights location with dark skies and the mountains as a striking backdrop. A wide-angle lens between 16mm and 24mm suits the landscape well. Parking is close by and the shoreline is accessible on foot with care over uneven rocks. (Spåkenes, Troms, Norway)
