Sprague Lake is a small, accessible alpine lake inside Rocky Mountain National Park that delivers some of the most dramatic reflections in all of Colorado, with Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain mirrored in the calm water when conditions are right. The classic shot is from the south shoreline looking northwest, where the peaks frame perfectly above the treeline. Early morning is ideal, often within the first hour after sunrise, when the wind is still and the surface acts like glass. A wide-angle lens works well for capturing the full mountain backdrop alongside the reflections, though a short telephoto lets you compress the scene and isolate the peaks. The half-mile loop trail is fully accessible and paved in sections, making it easy to work multiple angles around the lake. Arrive early, especially in summer, as the small parking area fills quickly. (Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado, United States)
