Squaw Valley Gondola View
The gondola at Palisades Tahoe carries you up to High Camp at around 8,200 feet, where the views back down the valley and across the Sierra Nevada are genuinely spectacular. From the top, wide-angle shots work well to capture the sweeping mountain panorama, with the gondola cables and cabins providing strong diagonal leading lines through the frame. You can also position yourself along the lower loading area to shoot the colorful gondola cars against the mountain backdrop as they glide up or return. Midday light can be harsh here given the high elevation, so aim for morning when softer light rakes across the ridgelines and the valley below holds some shadow contrast. Clear days are essential since cloud cover can obscure the distant peaks. Dress in layers even in summer, as conditions at the top change quickly, and a polarizing filter helps cut glare off the snow and sky. (Olympic Valley, California, United States)
