St Anthony’s Tower is a historic stone tower near Milnthorpe built to commemorate the passing of the 1832 Reform Bill and later used as an observation post during World War II by the Home Guard. It stands on elevated ground above the Kent Estuary giving it wide, open views across the surrounding landscape. The tower itself is a strong focal point, sitting alone against the sky and fields, making it easy to frame in clean and simple compositions. From this vantage point, you can also incorporate the estuary and countryside to add depth and scale to your shots. Early morning and late afternoon light work best, bringing out texture in the stone and shape in the landscape. It is reached by a short walk, and the open setting gives you plenty of flexibility to explore different angles. (Milnthorpe, Cumbria, England, United Kingdom)
