About St. Lawrence Anglican Church
St. Lawrence Anglican Church is a cute little chapel standing on rue Acadie in Bouctouche. It is classic wooden church design with little pops of red that contrast perfectly with its white paint job. It went up in the mid 1860s, making it the oldest surviving church building in the area. The church is quite photogenic from straight on with its two pointed windows sitting side by side making the whole face is symmetrical. A historic cemetery surrounds the building and works as foreground from any angle. Low sun spreads across the shingles and highlights the dark roof against the crisp white. Bouctouche is a largely Acadian town, and this cemetery is one of the few marks of the English speaking families who once lived here. Robert Douglass, who gave the land, is buried in it. The church has been deconsecrated so no longer holds services, but it is a provincial historic site. (Bouctouche, New Brunswick, Canada)
