About Staten Island Boat Graveyard
Staten Island boat graveyard is filled with abandoned and decomposing vessels, mostly cargo ships and tugboats, from all decades of the 20th century. They sit in the mud and shallow water until they are dismantled or salvaged. Some of them are historic, so that the place has been called an "accidental marine museum". The graveyard is a part of a privately owned marine scrapyard so it may not be easily accessible - we recommend asking permission to shoot on their property, although alternatively there is a muddy path just past the eastern edge of the scrapyard.
