Three Sisters Lighthouses
Three Sisters Lighthouses are a trio of historic lighthouses that now sit just off of Cable Road surrounded by trees. The original three brick towers fell into the sea due to erosion in 1890 and were replaced with wooden towers on brick foundations in 1892. Unfortunately the erosion continued, and by 1911, with the northernmost light only eight feet from the cliff, it was decided to move the lights back again. Uniquely two were decommissioned, purchased and moved back into the forest to be incorporated into a summer cottage. In 1975 the third sister was purchased by the National Park Service and moved to be re-united with her two sisters to form a scenic park back in their original configuration.
