About Ting Kau Bridge
Ting Kau Bridge is a soaring cable-stayed bridge crossing the Rambler Channel from Tsing Yi Island over to Ting Kau. It's trio of tall single towers is quite eye catching especially with the middle one standing on its own small island in the middle of the channel. Fans of cables spread down from the top of each tower down to the two roadways running along either side. From the Lantau Link Viewing Platform on Tsing Yi Island the bridge stretches out across the water in front you of. From there you can experiment with lining all three towers up in one frame, or if you have a longer lens in your kit you can use it to pick out the cable lines as they fan out against the sky. Since you're facing north on the platform, late afternoon light comes across the towers from your left. The sun goes down behind the Tsing Ma Bridge to the west so make sure to turn around and capture that while you are here. Plan on staying after dark too. The steady stream of trucks and cars over the bridge deck is perfect for experimenting with light trails. Over on the Ting Kau side, Lido Beach (along Castle Peak Road) lets you get right down to the water level and emphasize the scale of the bridge's towers, plus from the there you can add the Tsing Ma Bridge into your compositions. The viewing platform and surrounding beaches on either side of the bridge are all easily accessible and create endless shooting options for both of these bridges.
