Torre de Comunicacions de Montjuïc
Designed by Santiago Calatrava for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, this striking white tower rises from Montjuïc hill like a tilted needle, its angled shaft and circular base creating bold geometric shapes that reward architectural photography from almost any angle. Wide-angle lenses work well for shooting upward from the base, where the curve of the surrounding plaza leads your eye toward the spire against the sky. A 24-70mm gives you flexibility to capture both the full structure and isolated details like the skeletal support ring. Early morning light is ideal, when the white concrete glows warm and crowds are thin; clear blue-sky days make the tower pop with strong contrast. The surrounding Olympic complex adds context, so consider stepping back to include the plaza and stadium in your frame. Parking is available nearby on Montjuïc, and the site is open and accessible throughout the day. (Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain)
