Tuolumne Falls is a powerful cascade on the Tuolumne River where the water drops roughly 50 feet over a broad granite face, set deep in one of Yosemite's most dramatic high-country corridors. You reach it via the Glen Aulin Trail, about 4 miles from the Tuolumne Meadows Trailhead, a relatively straightforward hike with manageable elevation change. The falls are widest and most forceful in late spring and early summer when snowmelt is at its peak; by late summer the flow can thin considerably, so timing your visit matters. Position yourself on the rocky banks downstream to capture the full drop with the surrounding granite walls framing the scene. A wide angle lens works well to emphasize the scale of the rock face, while a slower shutter speed smooths the water into silky streaks. Morning light hits the falls cleanly before shadows from the canyon walls close in, making an early start worth the effort. (Yosemite National Park, California, United States)
