Uplift is a striking granite and stainless steel water sculpture at Lansdowne Park, designed to echo the ridges and geological forms of the Canadian Shield, with water cascading down its polished vertical faces into a carved channel below. The interplay of flowing water, reflective metal, and rough stone gives you a lot to work with visually. Get low and shoot upward to emphasize the sculpture's height and texture, or position yourself to capture the water's movement against the stainless steel using a slow shutter speed for silky flow. Overcast days are ideal since soft diffused light reduces harsh reflections and brings out the stone's tonal detail. A wide angle lens works well for environmental shots that include the canal and park surroundings, while a short telephoto lets you isolate the water and surface textures. The sculpture is easy to walk around and approach closely from all sides. (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
