Upper Sardine Lake is a gorgeous lake at foot of Sierra Buttes North surrounded by lush forest. The lake is accessible along Sardine Lake Road but you would need a 4x4 as the road is in quite rough shape, its much better/easier to hike in. (Sierra City, California, USA)
