Vikten Beach is a strikingly remote stretch of sand and rock on the Lofoten Islands, where dramatic mountain peaks rise directly from the shoreline and the sea shifts between deep turquoise and steel grey depending on the light. The combination of smooth sand, textured rocks, and those iconic jagged ridges gives you strong foreground interest to pair with the mountains behind. Try shooting low to the ground and using the wet sand at the waterline to capture reflections of the peaks, or position yourself near the larger rocks for a more rugged, layered composition. The blue hour before sunrise and after sunset is exceptional here, especially in summer when the midnight sun keeps the sky alive with color for hours. A wide angle lens in the 16 to 24mm range works well to capture the full scale of the landscape. Parking is available roadside and the beach is a short walk from the road. (Vikten, Nordland, Norway)
