Waterpoort
A waterpoort is a defensive water gate that is built at water access points in a defensive city wall. Dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, this preserved waterpoort is now the symbol of the town of Sneek. Originally the gatekeeper lived in the quarters above the gate and between the octagonal towers. (Sneek, Netherlands)
