About Watersedge Park

Watersedge Park is a peaceful little gem tucked away at the end of a quiet residential street in south Mississauga. This park looks northeast across open water towards the Toronto skyline, including the CN Tower, sitting out on the horizon about 25 km away. That distance works perfectly because it is close enough to see clearly on a clear day, but also far enough away that the whole city stacks up into one clean shape. The park itself is quite simple with its pebble beach, benches, and a few big trees on the grass behind sitting along the Waterfront Trail. This is the perfect location to experiment with sunrise photography. The sun comes up out over the lake beside the city, so you get colour in the sky paired with the darker skyline, and on a calm morning you can add in a reflection. Try to arrive a bit before sunrise while the city lights are still on. If you have a long lens in your kit you can use it to compress the skyline and make it appear much bigger across the water, or use something wide to build the pebbled beach and driftwood into the foreground. The park is easily accessible with a short drive south off the QEW and it has its own parking lot so you aren't circling the local neighbourhood looking for space to park. Make sure to plan in some extra time to explore the Rattray Marsh Conservation Area since it is pretty much next door. (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada)
