Witsand is a peaceful stretch of white sand beach backed by soft dunes and rolling green hills. The sand here is particularly white because underground water leaches the red iron oxide coating from the sand, leaving it with the crisp white finish. The whale watching is so special here and has been nicknamed South Africa’s whale nursery because it has one of the most magnificent land-based whale viewing points.
