The SS Kakapo was once a 665 ton schooner rigged steamship! It's been a wreck on Noordhoek Beach/Long Beach since 1900 when the Captain saw Chapman’s Peak, thinking it was Cape Point he gave instructions to turn hard to port, and ploughed full speed onto the beach. The ship has been slowly rusting away, being reclaimed by nature for over 100 years. (Kommetjie, Cape Town, South Africa)
