Zandvoorter Vlakje

Zandvoorter Vlakje - Photo by @endstraphoto1 / 1

Zandvoorter Vlakje is a quiet, atmospheric woodland pocket within the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen nature reserve, where tall old-growth trees create layered canopies and small meadows open up between the stands of forest. The interplay of light filtering through the tree crowns makes this a compelling place to shoot, especially in the golden hours just after sunrise or before sunset, when shafts of warm light cut through the trunks and lift the scene. Look for leading lines formed by the tree rows, and use the transitions between dense woodland and open meadow as natural framing opportunities. A mid-range zoom works well here for isolating details, though a wider lens captures the full depth of the forest. Move slowly and quietly, as fallow deer are frequently spotted crossing the clearings, offering unexpected wildlife moments if you are patient. Parking is available near the reserve entrance, and the terrain is walkable but can be soft after rain. (Bentveld, North Holland, Netherlands)
