Zeche Sterkrade (Sterkrade Colliery) was built in the early 1900s to meet the steadily growing demand for coal. The headframe from 1903 is one of the few surviving three-legged strut frames in the Ruhr area and also one of the oldest surviving German strut frames in North Rhine-Westphalia.
