Alamere Falls tumble over fragile shale cliffs at Alamere Creek Beach. It's a rare "tidefall", a waterfall that flows directly into the ocean. It is one of only two in the area (the other being McWay Falls). The Falls can be reached by following the Coast Trail from the Palomarin Trailhead at the end of Mesa Road. From the Palomarin Trailhead, the hike is 10km, one-way to the falls. Some trail guides list the Alamere Falls Trail as a "shortcut" to the falls. According to the National Parks Service website the Alamere Falls Trail is NOT a maintained trail, and poses many hazards to off-trail hikers.
