About Antoniuskapelle am Glocknerblick
Antoniuskapelle stands high in an open pasture with breathtaking views as the alpine forest falls away on both sides. It is a small stone building with a slate roof and a braced timber door, giving a rustic look to pair perfectly with its incredible surroundings. The Großglockner group sits across the valley, and the Almgasthaus Glocknerblick is a few hundred metres along the same pasture. Peaks of the Schober group and the Lienz Dolomites fill in the rest of the view. There is lots of space in the pasture so you can shoot the chapel small to highlight its vast surroundings. Putting it low in the frame with the snow peaks stacked behind and lets you capture the whole area in one shot. Low sun at either end of the day works best on the mountains. Early summer brings wildflowers across these slopes, which the Mohar above is known for. A mountain road climbs from Sagritz through Allas to the guesthouse, and you can park there. The chapel is a short walk from the car. From the other side, a road runs up the Astental from Mörtschach to the Sadnighaus, then a gravel track leads across. The guesthouse opens from late spring to mid autumn, so the road is for summer use only.
