Pfarrkirche Hll. Primus und Felizian stands tall in the heart of Bad Gastein on steep ground above the Gasteiner Ache. The building you see today was originally built between 1866 and 1876 to designs by a Viennese cathedral architect. A church has stood on this spot since at least 1333, rebuilt again and again because the slope underneath keeps shifting. That spire and its red roof draw your eye from all over town. It photographs beautifully from across the gorge. There is lots of space to set up along the nearby bridge and let the rest of town stacked around it. Closer in it can be tight since the spire is so tall, you will have to get low and go with a wide lens to capture the whole building. The church is closed for repairs because yet again the shifting slope has caused damage. The exterior is easy to capture from many vantage points both on the church grounds and from the surrounding town roads. Plan in some extra time to venture over to Gasteiner Wasserfall since it is just a few minutes away on foot. (Bad Gastein, Salzburg, Austria)
