Aquaduct Veluwemeer carries the Veluwemeer straight over a four lane road, so it's the boats that use a bridge to go over the roadway. Before it went in, a lift bridge on this crossing had to swing open every time a boat wanted through, and this put an end to that. You've almost certainly seen the place from the air. There is two very different approaches to capturing this shooting location. On the ground, footpaths run along both sides of the water, right at the lip of the concrete so you can stand level with a passing boat while traffic appears below. You can also use a longer lens from further along the bank to compress the boat, the wall of water and the road together using the concrete edges as leading lines. The lake is wide open with a flat horizon, so both ends of the day put colour on the water. The other option is from the air, looking straight down on a boat crossing above the traffic. This option will take some pre-planning before you head out to shoot. This is a working provincial road on a provincial boundary, so you'll need to check the current rules and the no fly zones before you send your drone up in the air. Pairing a boat and a car the same frame takes some patience and luck but the final product is definitely worth it. (Harderwijk, Gelderland, Netherlands)
