The Arc de Triomphe in Montpellier is an imposing gate built to honor the glory of King Louis XIV, on his orders. This site was chosen because its one of the highest points of the city, Mount Peyrou. Complete in 1692 this soaring archway features intricate carvings and medallions. (Montpellier, France)
