Arcadia Round Barn is an eye catching roadside stop! This bright red round barn sits along the old Route 66 in the little town of Arcadia, just east of Oklahoma City. A local farmer built it back in 1898 out of bent oak, round on purpose, and it has been a favourite for Route 66 road trippers ever since. The bold red curve against a wide Oklahoma sky really pops in the warm light of early morning or late afternoon. When you explore the inside be sure to head up to the loft, where a domed ceiling of curved wooden beams fans out overhead and makes perfect spot to experiment with a symmetrical looking up shot. Outside you should have lots of room to play with pairing the barn against the sky or lining it up with the road for that classic Route 66 feel, ideally with a low sun to give the red some rich warmth. The barn is free to visit and open most days, so you can take your time to photograph the unique features of both inside and outside. Plus POPS, the soda ranch with the giant pop bottle, is close by if you want to add another stop to your photo adventure. (Arcadia, Oklahoma, USA)
