Beelitz-Heilstätten, situated southwest of Berlin, is a vast complex of about 60 buildings spreading across 200 hectares. Initially built as a sanatorium in the late 19th century, it later served as a military hospital during World Wars I and II. Post-war, it was used by the Soviets until the 1990s. Today, it stands mostly abandoned but has become a magnet for photographers and urban explorers drawn to its eerie beauty and the remnants of its turbulent history. The architectural detail of the dilapidated buildings, tangled in overgrowth, offers a unique and atmospheric backdrop for photography. Notably, the surgical ward and the 'Alpenhaus' tuberculosis pavilion are intriguing subjects. Visitors are advised to tread carefully as some structures are in a state of decay.
